The Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) said while it acknowledges the significance and vitality of talks but under present circumstances of bloodshed, the dialogue process is nothing more than repeating the tradition. A party spokesperson while clearing its stand on talks said it requires setting up an agenda and conducive atmosphere and more importantly taking on board all the stakeholders without any kind of pressure. He termed it unfortunate that invitation of talks is made at a time when most of the resistance leadership is in jails and thousands of youth serving detention under fabricated charges. He expressed concern over the fact that all the stakeholders to the dispute neither are aware of any agenda nor is the process allowed in a free atmosphere. The DFP spokesperson said to have talks in present circumstances is a futile exercise as arrests, harassment, attacks on women-folk, NIA raids and character assassination of resistance leadership continue on other hand. So, to expect any breakthrough in such atmosphere where a graveyard silence has been created by authorities is a folly. The spokesperson also condemned the ongoing arrest spree and atrocities by forces across the valley saying until the government changes its anti-people attitude and accepts Kashmir as a dispute, no positive results are expected.
